jonas munks work as manual has never sought to radically reinvent itself. rather, he has spent the time since his debut ep in 2000 perfecting and refining the sound that is so distinctly his own - with each successive album meticulously exploring certain aspects of the manual sound. there is an ongoing insistence that there is originality and beauty in his finely crafted productions, even in times when they seem terribly out of tune with the current trends. in munks view originality isnt so much a constant renewal of oneself but rather the creation of a unique and confident style that is continuously relevant.

it came as a great surprise when nail accepted to press on vinyl the 2011 produced bpms vol.1 he had so far only released through his own website. nail has been one of our favorite producers for quite some time now and his relentless beats always part of our selections.

the guys from audision are back with their next release in coloured vinyl! they produced chimes 1 for their live-set and it was much appreciated by the crowd. their new syntie roland jd 800 sounded crystal clear in their studio, but when they practiced for their live set in frankurt last year, all of a sudden it played a different sound … this was a magic moment which had to be recorded at once. the typcial audision device is: let the machines do the talking. and that is the also the story of chimes 2 *away* was the beatless track from their last years release up & away. so no one else but gez varley aka g-man created a dancefloor monster out of it. where can we start, when we talk about such a genius like gez varley. he was co-founder of the legendary lfo (warp records) duo. he wrote music history with his partner mark bell. under his solo project g-man, he released on labels like wir, i220, force inc or swim. *quo vadis* is still one of the most important all-time favourite techno tracks. last but not least a typical rough and deep house mix came out of christopher raus machines. the smallville member released on labels like, pampa, derive, aim, mule… and delivered a great track for this wonderful release. all in all - a must have!

in a world in which upstart diy talent is flooding the gates of electronic music, a few recent voices have been so strong as to be startling. lapalux – aka 25-year-old stuart howard – is certainly one such. as singular as a brilliant artist always should be, his instinctive understanding of the atmospheric power of texture grips the ear immediately on listening. nostalchic is his debut album, mission statement, and the climax of many years of studying his craft. the amalgam of words that make the title is aptly, and perhaps knowingly chosen. the album evokes nostalgia without ever sounding nostalgic, and howard may have had his tongue in his chic when he added the second half of the title. the album is his most focused document to date, adding his beloved r&b and soul into elements of house and hip hop, all with the trademark lapalux finish, infectious, lopsided swing and achingly deep texture.

mihai popoviciu has established him self as a producer and dj of high repute in the past few years. his releases on labels such as highgrade, fear of flying and hudd traxx have raised the bar pretty high when it comes to his own distinctive take of the tech-house sound du jour, but its this latest outing on poker flat recordings where sparks really start to fly.

heavily infuenced by the early works of zoltar, adsum got into electronic music at an early age. then some years ago, when he had to move to earth, things got more serious. spending his time between loops he learned their language, being able to blend in like one of them. so here we go. this release represent just a friendly hallo to our listeners.

over the last few years douglas greed live with his band has twisted heads at festivals over a few beers.underway with a percussionist and singer he is constantly on the highways ravaging the gas stations of europe – especially for the last few months. what has developed on the stage as a stout twister session for adults is now presented as a music release.the title piece masked up and messed up puts up a fat middle finger to everyone who lets their vanity slip out at the masked ball. the track is a bass-bellied house rocker along with vocals that wink an eye with a snot-nosed chorus added.with 5000 ansi lumen the lights roll on and off with a flick. there isn t anything the neighbors can do by knocking on the door when the cross-trainers are carrying the load of the baseline! the rainfall in the very first beat provides space for a a dried-out drum. in this dusty atmosphere, it builds up ever and ever more and takes flight to the foremost place. a groovy stop and go – dissolved into a supplication for rain and salvation.

enigmatic artists from eastern europe had a ace in their sleeve when they came out with the project of suburbs. they come up with the most mystical sound for their first ep on archipel under “plaeisii.” the strange classical texture swirl with a very lush rhythm that at first, appear to be extremely predictable but then, as you listen carefully, you get caught up on the most capturing pattern. the main song as well as amorf both are music for the soul and will be played in very special moment that will have people close their eyes to enjoy the shifting mood.

kolortown is probably the best deep dub act in the world right now, drawing heavy influence from oldschool reggaedub combined with contemporary musical expressions and technology. this ep is a masterpiece in dubtricks, layering & tapebouncing and contains plenty of variety in moods, everything from cluboriented 4/4 steppers to late night chill out when the lights are out. this release shows the true skills of producers xoki & hieronymus here brought to a wider audience, and is comparable to the likes of massive attack and portishead. dont miss out on this part 3-its quite extraordinary!

activia benz are back in full swing for 2013 with their next release: recolor ep from 813. 813 is 25 year old russian badass, alexander goryachev. he is a firefighter, which is badass. his music is a dense collision of crazy rap beats, sort of, and some kind of fantastic rave thing, maybe. his music is very badass, much like the fact he is a firefighter. it is also very beautiful, like when he carries a small cat to safety from a burning russian building. recolor is a slice of really fantastic dancey bassy music for partying and hanging out to with your m8s.

streaking through the ether at twice the speed of sound, mr 8040 is on a date with destiny. he is heading for mikrosector-50, his home planet, but things are not going as smoothly as planned. en route he finds himself in sticky situations, cosmic encounters that trigger flashbacks to a different time and place. will he ever make it home? and who – or what – is he running from?
this, more or less, is the narrative thrust of jack hamills debut album as space dimension controller. welcome to mickrosektor-50 is a swashbuckling sci-fi odyssey that unfolds like some long-lost star wars episode scripted by philip k dick and scored by tangerine dream. the record is fantasy in its purest form: a futuristic boys own adventure concocted in a belfast bedroom, it is the sum of jacks musical influences distilled into 68 minutes of unalloyed electronic pleasure.

transparent vinyl. part 2 of 2.this latest ep on enemy maybe the most psychedelic and hypnotic release the label has released thus far. psychedelic hypnotism may sound like a bad acid rant from the >summer of love,< but this 2 part vinyl ep will prove you otherwise. the first vinyl focuses on the more abstract side of the dance floor, leading off with rrose and donato. perfect for the beginning of the evening or the early morning. the second vinyl is the more club-oriented accompaniment courtesy of jesper dahlback and grindvik & zahn.

the weird house music composers from brazil strike again with four slices of spaced-out dance floor sounds. psychedelic is just one of the adjectives that come to mind when hearing brazilian duo colors sound system. on their first single for lovemonk, sao paolo brothers jota wagner and wander a, who call themselves weird house music composers, continue on the path to a higher state of consciousness with four slices of mind-altering disco and house splashed with spacemen 3-like vocals and seventies prog guitars and organs. just listen to the almost eleven minutes of *ar* if you dont believe. or *1974*. or *poeira lunar*, for that matter. the beatless title track is the only one staying under the seven-minute limit, and it is also the last track on the ep, like a much-needed comedown. space is the place, as the great sun ra said.

a surprising house release, muredo, an ep with a generous acoustics in which the rythm is frontal but the story is told just behind. the raf are two habitual offenders of the well done track. when the muredo track slowly wakes you up and meticulously tries hard to describe the morning gestures, murefa carry on with a breathless ride. the second inspiration is only taken when everything had come to an end, in a calmness orchestrated by val at the helm of an abstract groovy remix. this ep is the first signature on the recent french label seconde and a lot of things are supposed to come soon.

when wncl012 hero, kevin mcphee, dropped the unreleased bobby champs dubplate of *krenshaw* in his boiler room set last year, the cassette library instantly knew that they had found their lucky star for wncl013. with his trademark boxy drum sound littering the contents of this ep, the man who likes *…making songs that make you want to dance* has done it again.

*sundog* by french producer johannes regnier was a massive but bloody underrated track this summer - when i heard it recently at the innervisions-party on the berghain-floor i felt confirmed about this dudes big potential. meanwhile he moved from paris to berlin and his first studio in town was located in a street called wiesenweg. there johannes met alexander antonakis, an excellent and well known dj from frankfurt for some sessions - the result you can hear on this *wiesenweg ep*.

last year kyodai dropped breaking, which to date is the biggest selling release on local talk. now the brothers are back with in our opinion a future house anthem. the scene is a classic piano house cut that’s impossible to resist and together with one the coolest vocal samples we’ve ever heard we think this has the potential to go really big. when the breakdown drops we’re pretty sure everybody in the club will chant. but as if this was not enough we also got another big tune on the b-side. moving is the continuation of “breaking” and goes along the same lines with its crossover jazz styled house. once again kyodai delivers a supa solid house production with large jazz breakdowns and old school vocals that’s right up their with ”breaking”. this is also why we called it…breaking pt.2. kyodai is currently working on their debut album for local talk which is due later this year. they’re also travelling around the world with their amazing live dj set that we highly recommend. trust us when we say that these two brothers really now how to turn up the heat in a club…serious biz!

just when you thought you knew what you were going to get from flashmob they switch it up completely, stamping their mark of quality and proving their versatility as producers they turn in an old school acid house stomp. dark, rumbling bass, spoken female vocal, and complimentary 303 acid squelches make both the garage mix and panorama mix equally at home in a field around the m25 circa 88 as it does on the floor at dc10 in 2013. watch out. acid house is back!

easily recognizable by his impassioned johnny cash-meets-charlie feathers vocals, the french-born don cavalli began to get any notice in the greater music and blog community when he released his full-length *cryland* (2007), which featured his amalgamation of swamp blues, lo-fi pop, country gospel, and early rock & roll. in 2013, don cavalli will release his new studio album *temperamental*, staying on blues track while dismantling the traditional codes of the field. indeed, thanks to an old fashioned sound take and a contemporary production, don cavalli makes his new album sound old but incredibly modern. and if *temperamental* goes through many kinds of sounds, in the end it always goes straight to the point: a unique cajun blues from the bayou serving a soul and sophisticated voice. a must-have!

bad cop bad cop are underground veteran alex cortex (xx badcop) and glam-tech-hero lopazz (zz badcop), both well-established producers and perfomers for many years with top-credentials on smaller and bigger imprints alike. so different they are in their respective solo-projects, so indistinguishably they melt their unique visions into one flow of effervescent creativity when they hit the studio or stage together.

the two brothers of gebrÜder teichmann have been regular guests at the early killekill events. that is because they have a very similar approach to electronic music as we do. first of all they are deeply in love with the music itself and not the fame, the money or whatever one might expect to get when making music, and second they have a wide musical horizon and interesting perspectives on it, because they are active on several levels, as djs, musicians, promoters etc. first of all though they got class and taste, and so we are happy to present their cooperation with one of our personla heroes and one of the very big names in early house music: johnny dangerous aka foremost poets.

rummage in some boxes of my favourite record store i found a cover that made me curious. l kubic & tagträumer² - the only thing in this world and on the flipside a remix by alle farben. when placing the needle at the beginning of the vinyl the first sounds were very strange. i thought that must be a record from the 60s lost in the tech-house box but than a straight beat turned everything different. a piano melody slowly sat down firmly in my ear and i was longing to know where the journey takes me. after a while an acidline pushed everything and i was sure at this time this is not a normal 4/4 tech-house record. alle farben remixed the themes very playful and i heard that he gives the elements more pressure for the club. so at the end i bought this one and i cannot imagine taking this unique record ever again out of my record case.

when discotheque the volcano was torn down in the hague this year, the bricks and mortar were ground down to a fine powder. in a completely revolutionary process the powder was distilled and filtered by boffins and local music producers to manufacture the music you find on this record. even more surprisingly maybe is that it turns out that the same powder can be both inhaled and injected. i ve just had a bit actually and its not bad. post-post sewer tracks far beyond your wildest imagination.
